Poured into a Seattle Beer Week pint glass. Pours a medium to dark coppery amber with a one finger white head with great retention an nice lacing. Aroma of pale malt with a bit of biscuit, citrus hops, lemon, grapefruit and orange; mild light stone fruits. Flavor follows with pale, somewhat bready malt, citrus hops, lemon, grapefruit, orange and hints of stone fruit. Light to moderate bitterness in the finish. Medium bodied with light to moderate creaminess. Much like the lager I had tonight from this brewery, it has a nice hop profile, here leaning to citrus, but the flavor seems somewhat subdued and the finish bitterness is modest. It was just the opposite from what I expected as this is a transparent pour and the lager was rather hazy, which I often associate with low bitterness; looks can be deceptive. An unassuming pale ale with nice citrus hops, but needs a little more assertiveness in the bitterness to suit my palette. Both of these were refreshing and pleasant. A check of the cooler in a small store across the sound from Seattle scored these two beers from a small brewerey in Poulsbo I had never encountered before.
