Notes via stream of consciousness: Well it's not that "dunkel". Dunkel is the German word for dark but this is really more of a braun, or brown. Is brown dark? Well, it depends. This to me looks like what I'd call a chestnut brown. It's the color of a chestnut or acorn. In the overall scheme of things I guess it is dark, but it's definitely not as dark as most German dunkelbiers. Moving forward, it's hazy beneath a finger's width of slightly yellowed off--white foam. The head has held up quite well so we'll have to see if it leaves good lacing. I should also note that this is a peanut and chocolate flavored beer, but that's all it is, flavoring - there's no chocolate or peanut butter in here. Is it still safe for people with nut allergies? I don't know. So what does it smell like? Not surprisingly it smells a lot like peanut butter and cocoa powder. It's pleasant and welcoming, and I definitely want to taste it... ahhh, yes, it also tastes like peanut butter and chocolate. I feel it's more peanut butter than chocolate, but everyone's tastes are different so you never know. I get the peanut first, followed by a combination of additional nuttiness and soft cocoa powder, and then a little bit of milk chocolate at the swallow before more nuttiness returns in the lingering aftertaste. It's quite nice. It's sweetish but balanced by a moderate bitterness. I feel like there's a very subtle fruitiness to it, but no hop flavor, and it's basically just the peanut and chocolate. It could be a dessert beer but it's not really that intense or sweet, and as such I think you could drink this at any time if you were in the mood. It's medium bodied and gently crisp. I do have some lacing left behind in the glass but it's not the greatest. I'm not sure about the haze either, but I guess if you had a crystal clear peanut beer that might seem a little odd, so OK. Overall I've enjoyed this so far, and I can see why they'd do it as a dunkel, which eliminates the roasted flavors you'd find in a stout or porter, and the flavor comes through more clearly. It's also probably less acidic than a darker version which probably helps. It's a little bit of a one-trick-pony with the peanut butter and chocolate but at least it's a good trick, and I'm more than halfway through it at this point and I haven't tired of it yet. Nicely done.

Pours a murky caramel color, minimal head. Huge peanut aroma. Flavor is mainly peanuts, base beer of dunkel doesn’t really compliment the adjuncts, clashes and comes off as astringent. Feels overcarbonated. Glad I tried it, one is plenty.

this is a "Peanut Butter Chocolate Dunkel". On draft
clear, medium brown in color. big aroma of peanut butter - but not really any chocolate. taste is dominated by the peanut flavor. Okay flavor, but once is enough for this kind of beer. thinner bodied.
