Origins / Barberra is the first in a series of barrel aged golden ales, refermented on single grape varietals. This inaugural version was made with rich, full, Barberra wine grapes. The resulting beer is like a beer/natural wine hybrid, bringing jammy fruit, and a soft acidity, to a dry tannic base beer.

Fermentery Form "Origins / Barberra"
750 ml dark green glass bottle, corked and caged, "Batch: #001"
$19 at the fermentery
Notes: Hazy, pinkish red in color beneath a short head of white that drops shortly leaving behind only spotty lace. Decidedly tart aroma but with a fruity character like red berries. Funky with mustiness, tanned leather, wet straw, and earthy mud. Oaky as well. Not surprisingly the flavor follows but the grape must comes through clearer. It's sweetish, but balanced against the tartness. Light-medium in body with a tingly, fine-bubbled carbonation. Spectacular. Without question this can stand on the world stage against others of it's kind. For the price it's a steal.
