We've taken the malt and hops from one of our favourite West Coast pales and lifted them up to create Great Bitter Lake. A lean malt profile gives just enough body to support the whirlpool additions of Columbus and Citra hops. Centennial, Simcoe, Mosaic and Idaho-7 combine in the dry hop for fresh citrus and pine aromas.

Pours a slightly cloudy, golden amber coloration with a large, frothy head. Smells of biscuity, slightly caramelly malt and citrus/tropical hops, with some floral and piney accents as well. Taste is a good balance of biscuity, caramel malt and resinous, bitter, but also somewhat floral and herbal hops, with tropical and citrus fruit notes of mango, pineapple, grapefruit and pine. Finishes with a medium bitterness and some citrus/tropical notes and pine. Smooth mouthfeel with a medium body and carbonation.
This is a pretty decent WCIPA that's just, but maybe not quite, resinous and bitter enough, but also a bit too floral and fruity for my personal taste, while also lacking that firm, caramel malt backbone that I expect of the style. All in all, quite a nice brew, although the balance is just a little off for my personal taste.
