Caulier Developpement (Maison Caulier) “ Caulier Brett 28”
4,90€/33cl on tap @ Lambicus, Barcelona, ES

A hazy dark amber/chestnut brown body is capped by a thin veil of off-white foam. The aroma is bright with orchard fruits and leathery, grassy and softly vinous and subtly mineralish Brettanomyces. The flavor follows with some rock candy sugar, more rotting apple, pear, additional leather, peach, apricot, and underlying cinnamon and pineapple. A moderate bitterness and some smooth acidity keeps it from becoming sweet and it finishes mostly dry with wet straw, nectarine, and leather lingering. In the mouth it’s medium bodied and delicately crisp and then smooth. What I love about this beer is that it offers pretty much everything that the Brettanoyces offers while blending perfectly with the softly sweet and very fruity characteristics.

De color ámbar, con un leve espuma de poca duración. Cuerpo ligero y carbonatación media. Aroma a malta, caramelo y levadura. En boca predomina una sensación agridulce.

Pours a golden-amber colour, with a medium off white head with great retention, grown and lace. Aroma is spicy, colves, cinnamon, grapefruit, caramel, wine notes. MEdium body with a rather rough tewxture . Taste is a bit metallic, spices, cinnamon, clove. Sour.. It’s like a lowered doiwn Christmas with the sourness of a lambic.

Poured to an Ora et Labora taster.

A: Body is mid-way between a yellow-ish and a orange-ish tone. Head is white showing good retention and good lacing.
S: The aroma is very promising of brett, a sweet, savory, salty, and soft touch of tartness, funkiness and deliciousness is present. No other flavour is found. Though I expected a couple more malting and alcohol in here, but so far, so good.
T: The taste is filled with bright malts, a very straightforward beginning to a brettonamyces opening that's very very good. The alcohol, the saltiness and the malts, all come together to let brett shine here. So good. Reminds me of Jester King Snörkel.
M: Body is medium to low. Carbonation is perfect. Alcohol is noticed, a bit. Bitterness is soft and sourness is soft as well.
O: Great Sour here. Would love to have this again.

Amber Brown, with three fingers of yellowish beige head. Some visible carbonation, and a light haze.

Smells of Brett right away. Children's aspirin, pears, lightly fruity like a triple.

Sweet, fruity, apples, big Brett, pears, much like a Belgian triple. It finishes with a slightly acrid, bitter, phenolic taste.

Medium body, moderate carbonation.

I found this one today in a bar outside Chang Mai. I am drinking it at home this June 29, 2017. A really nice pleasant surprise. Based on ratings I had low expectations, but I'm really enjoying this brew. It does have Brett qualities for sure, and is slightly sweet as opposed to an Orval.

Amber reddish appearance, decent beige head.
A tthe nose brett notes, over a tropical fruitiness, apple, ripe yellow peach. Malt sweetness.
In the mouth a good maltiness, ripe fruitiness, and a light brett, not enough to balance the sweetness.
Sugary. Really oo sweet.
