On tap:
Pours a dark brown trying to get to black. The head nicely sustains, covering the surface of the pour and lacing the glass quite well. Nose is light, with heavily toasted (burnt) bread faintly detected. As the beer warms, a bit of roasted coffee comes out.
Definitely not as roasty as a porter, but definitely those flavors come outpre than in the nose. The flavor fades into a citrus-tinged later taste before ending a tad piney/resinous. The citrus taste transitions into a mildly more tart flavor as the beer warms a bit more. Carbonation is good, and body is medium, which is good.
This beer hits all the points of what I think a Black Ale (IPA) should, and it does it in a nicely balanced manner.
