Appearance: dark walnut to deep mahogany color. a half a finger of an off white head that fades pretty quickly and doesn't leave behind much in terms of a lacing. completely hazy and dark making it opaque as can be.
Smell: slightly acidic and some green apple character. caramel and more malts. earthy and wooden.
Taste: opens up with some oak and earthy acidity. some green apple skin mixes with small amounts of dark fruits mainly raisins. caramel malts and more dark fruits. wood gives off slight hints of vanilla to cinnamon near the end.
Mouthfeel: heavy, slick and sticky. really coats the mouth and lingers around.
Overall: love the idea but its not carried out quite good enough. I think the malts are slightly lacking to stand up to the post fermentation aging and yeast spiking. also the mouthfeel might be a bit over the top sticky. Overall a nice beer though.
