L: Had this beer on-tap at Growlers to Go - Short Pump, poured into a snifter glass. Had a jet black color and a thick, opaque consistency. There was a 3/4", foamy, fairly long-lasting head. Solid lacing.
S: A decent, but not, spectacular aroma of malt, dark fruit, licorice, bourbon, and chocolate.
T: Tasted of mild bit of dark chocolate (less than you'd expect), a good shot of dark fruit (fig, raisins), light bourbon notes (and its barrel), a decent amount of roasted malt (present throughout), and some licorice as well. This is a good, but not brilliant flavor. It's slightly thinner than expected (the bourbon seems lost). Still, it has its charms.
F: An average amount of carbonation with a smooth finish. Medium-bodied.
O: This is one of those uneven beers that kind of grew on me. Worth a try.
