Nephology is the science of clouds. With this series, we explore the science of cloudy beers. Batch #3 is single-hopped with Lemondrop hops, and brewed with lemon zest and vanilla. Think lemon pie in a glass!

I tried this at the Roanoke, VA location. It poured a cloudy yellow with thin white head that did not leave much lace. The scent had hints of lemon citrus. The taste was nicely balanced and easy to drink with sweet malt base and subtle lemon bitter hop finish. The mouthfeel was lighter in body with good carbonation. Overall it was a good beer.

Pours a hazy pale burnt orange with medium head and limited lace. Nose is strong lemon and...ethanol. This smells like a softer version of my homemade lemoncello with lots of lemon zest and everclear. Taste is...damn that's lemon and ethanol again. Really odd. I'm not sure if that just what lots of lemon drop hops brings, but it is not really what I'm looking for.
Edit...after a couple more of these, I'm going to downgrade further. The pith and everclear doesn't improve, and I'll be looking to give away half the 6-pack.
