A nice frothy head on light amber hued brew with good doses of bread crust and pils maltiness alongside reasonably prominent spicy noble hopping for the style. Light body with dry finish. Hellesfest is a solid lager by TN’d.

A 12-oz can from Total Wine and More in Short Pump, VA, the lager poured a light amber with a small white foamy head and limited lacing. The light aroma of caramel malt with bready notes greets you. The flavors are basic, malty, and with some grassy notes. The lager has a medium body with soft carbonation.

12oz can, large flute like glass, best by 11/14/24.
Slightly hazy gold with a creamy cap of white head.
Honey malt, musty grain, and herbal hops.
Full malty body with moderately balancing herbal hops. It’s lightly yeasty as well, which presents a little texture and crispness. The bitterness is a little more lingering than crisp.
After having discovered Festbier for myself for the first time in Bavaria two years ago, I’m gratified to be able to find more American examples like this replacing Märzen during Oktoberfest season.

Tried it at both the Richmond location and in a can. From the can, it pours a mostly clear golden color with a nice white head that reduces to a nice ring and leaves lacing. The nose gets some bread and some grassiness. The mouth gets some hop bitterness along with some malt and a mild lingering light bitterness.

16oz can poured into a pint
A- pours a slightly hazy golden color with a one-finger foamy white head that reduces to a thin film floating on top
S- toasted cracker malt, hay, floral & peppery hellertau hops, slightly bready, honeysuckle
T- astringent and hoppy up front with spicy and floral hop notes. Mid-palate gives some sweet malty notes that adds some bready notes. The finish gives more hop bitterness that continues into the linger
M- light body with medium carbonation leads to a foamy mouthfeel that continues into a dry, crisp finish
O- definitely an Americanized version, more hop forward than you'd typically find from a German example
