32oz crowler, tulip, picked up from RVA location 11/20/22 (yesterday).
Garnet color with a small white head.
Cocoa biscuit, like chocolate Graham cracker, red berry, cakey brownie.
Malty and fruity with a balancing bitterness. Cocoa, vanilla, red berry compote with no extra sweetener, and IKEA coffee. I know IKEA coffee is a strange descriptor, but you know the very finely ground coffee they sell, it’s sweet, slightly acidic, and always a little stale. Medium bitterness that’s slightly metallic and tempers all the sweet, rich flavors.
Moderate carbonation, light to moderate body, and a clean finish as it is clean overall.
This is a very tasty Altbier. Look at these guys over here knocking out very nice renditions of German ales.
