Served on tap at the brewery in a 10-oz goblet.
Look: Black, with a 1/2” tan head that dissipated into a foam ring with adequate finely-bubbled lacing.
Nose: Sweet dark roast, cooked sugar and just a hint of floral.
Mouthfeel: Thinner than I expected, but smooth. Adequate carbonation.
Attack: Fairly thin dark roast — less depth in flavor than I anticipated especially after the nice nose.
Finish: Just a bit of bitterness from the dark roast.
Overall: While the appearance, nose, and mouthfeel are important to me, the flavor is most important, so that’s pulling down the overall score. It’s quite drinkable — if there is such a thing as a session oatmeal stout this would be it, except for the ABV. Can I call this a “lawnmower stout?”

From the 12 oz can in a snifter. This solid little stout pours a
rich brownish black with a nice head of khaki foam that settles down
to a thick ring, thin clumping layer, and sports some nice light lacing.
Nose of deep roasted malts, faint grain, dark cocoa, and subtle dark
coffee notes with char hints. Flavors follow but exceed by sheer
presentation with a dark coffee dunked in dark fruit with subtle cream,
moderately bitter cocoa, and rounded out by mellow oat with faint
herbal hop notes. Nice mouth feel; medium full body, smooth,
light carbonation, and a nice bitter malt and roasted finish.
Overall, a solid entry into this brewers profile who keep
improving.
Cheers
