Aged in Willett Bourbon and Rye Whiskey barrels, this Scotch Ale conjures up thoughts of the highlands with its caramelly smooth malt base, with just a touch of spice and heat from the Rye barrels.

500 ml bottle, 2020 vintage (10.1% ABV), thanks to Brutaltruth for this brew! Served in a thistle glass, the beer pours a cloudy dark brown color with about an inch and a half tan head that stayed around for a while. Decent amount of lacing. I like the aroma, the brew smells like bourbon and rye whiskey, caramel, vanilla, dark fruit, oak and earthiness. For the most part I think the taste is similar to the aroma, but there's also some smoke, rye spice and bready flavors noticeable too. Also, I think the taste isn't as sweet compared to the aroma. Good amount of barrel character. Mouthfeel/body is medium, it's a bit syrupy and smooth with a moderate amount of carbonation. I thought this was a pretty good barrel aged Scotch Ale, definitely would like to try this one again!

From the 22 oz bottle in a snifter, this decent little BBA scotch ale pours a
dark muddled brown with a nice head of off white foam that settles
to a thick ring and sports some light lacing. Nose of smoked peat malts,
mild bourbon, mild vanilla, earthy malts, and light oak. Flavors exceed the
nose with earthy malts, tart cherry notes, smoked peated malts, mellow
bourbon, medium oak, and light vanilla dashed with brown sugars. Nice
mouth feel; medium body, smooth, light carbonation, and a lightly
warming medium dry finish.

Overall, a solid little brew from a nice little brewery!

Cheers
