This is a SMASH IPA with Amarillo hops and Pilsner malts.
A: Pours with just a bit of chilled haze that clears up after a minute. Golden/orange color, with a two finger white head that forms. Good retention and plenty of lace.
S: A big pungent aroma up front. Orange peal, grapefruit, other citrus aromas. Just a touch cracker like from the pale malts. Light pine/resin and lingering bitterness. Love the nose.
T: Like the nose, very pungent. Orange and citrus rind, grapefruit, pine, and light cracker like pale malts in the background. Bitterness does linger for a while and boarders to be a bit to strong for my liking, but still just manages to stay in check.
M/O: A medium to full body. Great carbonation, that is crisp, smooth, and dry at the same time. Finishes long and very clean. Really easy to drink. Something I can come back to with ease at the brewery.
Really well done with the Amarillo hops. It almost becomes over the top bitter, but doesn't get to that point. Everything is very clean and well made. Impressive for the first offering of a new brewery, and should be on most peoples radar for a great new Houston IPA.
