Jake Don’t Play – A DDH West Coast IPA that does not mess about. This ale features a strong bittering/flavor role from Vic Secret, supported by its homies Rakau, Sultana and Ella. With a multi-cultural flavor profile draped over a bitter layer underneath, JDP wasn't born in the U.S., but is American as they come now. Nice guy, just don't piss him off.

A: Pours an orange color with a light haze. A one finger white head forms with good retention. Rings and sheets of lac left behind.
S: Big grapefruit, orange pith and pine in the nose. Simple, but very aromatic and pungent.
T: Again, orange and grapefruit pith with pine. A peppery spice, and light floral flavor for a bit more nuance. Bitterness is strong, lingering, and last a long time.
M/O: A medium body with crisp carbonation. Finishes super dry and clean. An enjoyable IPA to drink.
With almost no malt character, and the strong bitterness, this is just on the other side of balanced for me. While I would personally like a little more balance, this is not constructed for that. Appropriately so. My score may be a bit low, just because I always look for balance, but it is spot on for a West Coast IPA. Much more so than a lot of other local breweries around. Well done, even if its not my favorite interpretation of an IPA, still very good.
