330 mL, longneck brown bottle, capped. Obtained from Aoki-san at Popeye in Tokyo. 60 IBU. Kent Golding hops. A joint production of Echigo and Popeye. Apparently only 40 cases were brewed in mid-December 2002.
This IPA poured a cloudy, orange-amber color with tall, creamy, off-white foam that left good lace. The smell was mild: slightly sweet malt and floral hops. The taste was dominated by fruity hops (floral and bitter) that gave a tangy flavor that was fairly well balanced by the malt sweetness. The flavor was best as this beer warmed. The mouthfeel was smooth, crisp, and dry. The body was medium with moderate carbonation. There was a very pleasant lingering dry, hoppy flavor. This was a good IPA, well balanced, but not "over the top" in hops.
