We took an old favorite, ditched the vanilla, and added a bunch of honey! It resulted in a sweetened roasted honey nose, with a residual honey finish!!

16 ounce crowler into tulip glass, filled on 2/24/2019. Pours opaque dark brown/black color with a 1 finger dense and rocky khaki head with great retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Nice dense spotty soapy lacing clings on the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of milk/dark chocolate, cocoa, honey, caramel, brown sugar, toffee, roasted nuts, toasted biscuit, and dark/brown bread/crust; with lighter notes of coffee, molasses, licorice, dark fruit, smoke, char, wood, herbal, grass, pepper, pine, and yeast/roast/toasted earthiness. Nice and pleasant aromas with good balance and complexity of dark/roast/bready malts, honey, light-moderate earthy hops, and light fruity yeast notes; with solid strength. Taste of big milk/dark chocolate, cocoa, honey, caramel, brown sugar, toffee, roasted nuts, toasted biscuit, and dark/brown bread/crust; with lighter notes of coffee, molasses, licorice, dark fruit, smoke, char, wood, herbal, grass, pepper, pine, and yeast/roast/toasted earthiness. Light-moderate pine, herbal, woody, grassy, peppery hop; and roast/char bitterness on the finish. Lingering notes of milk/dark chocolate, cocoa, honey, caramel, brown sugar, toffee, roasted nuts, toasted biscuit, dark/brown bread/crust, coffee, molasses, licorice, dark fruit, smoke, char, wood, herbal, grass, pepper, pine, and yeast/roast/toasted earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Great complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/roast/bready malts, honey, light-moderate earthy hops, and light fruity yeast flavors; with a great roast/hop bitter/sweet balance; and no cloying, acrid, astringent flavors after the finish. Lightly increasing dryness from lingering hop/char bitterness. Medium carbonation and medium-plus body; with a very smooth, creamy/silky/bready, and fairly sticky/chalky mouthfeel that is great. Minimal warming alcohol of 6.8%. Overall this is a delicious Robust porter. All around nice complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/roast/bready malts, honey, light-moderate earthy hops, and light fruity yeast flavors; very smooth and easy to drink with the mellowly bitter/charred/drying finish. Very rich and well rounded porter malt complexity with added honey; and balancing earthy hops against sweetness. Mild fruity English yeast. A very enjoyable offering, and well made style example.
