16 ounce crowler into dimpled mug, filled on 10/6/2019. Pours fairly hazy deep orange/copper/amber color with a 1 finger fairly dense and fluffy off white head with great retention, that reduces to a thin cap that lingers. Nice spotty soapy lacing clings on the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of honey, brown sugar, brown bread dough/crust, toasted biscuit, and nuttiness; with light notes of caramel, wood, pepper, and herbal/floral/grassy earthiness. A bit of fruity/yeasty aromas, but not overwhelming. Nice and pleasant aromas with good complexity of bready malts and light earthy hop notes; with solid strength. Taste of big honey, brown sugar, brown bread dough/crust, toasted biscuit, and nuttiness; with light notes of caramel, wood, pepper, and herbal/floral/grassy earthiness. Mild herbal, floral, woody, grassy, peppery bitterness on the finish. Lingering notes of honey, brown sugar, brown bread dough/crust, toasted biscuit, nuttiness, caramel, wood, pepper, and herbal/floral/grassy earthiness on the finish for a whole. Awesome robustness and complexity of bready malts and light earthy hop flavors; with a solid malt/bitterness balance, and no cloying sweetness after the finish. Very clean on lager flavors, with minimal fruity/yeasty notes. Lightly increasing dryness from lingering bitterness. Medium carbonation and medium-plus body; with a very smooth, creamy/silky/bready/grainy, and lightly sticky mouthfeel that is great. Zero warming alcohol for 5.5%. Overall this is a delicious marzen. All around nice robustness and complexity of bready malts and light earthy hop flavors; very smooth and easy to drink with the mildly bitter/drying finish; awesome soft/silky feel. Awesome clean/rich Munich, Vienna, Biscuit malt showcase; with solid noble hop presence/balance. Not overly sweet/heavy from lingering dryness. A very enjoyable offering, and impressively spot on style example.
