Seeing Double

Seeing Double pours a very dark amber color, with a small acing head. Sweet and hoppy aroma. Flavor is hoppy, but not too bitter, dry and hints of pine. Good body and feel. Overall, a very good Red IPA, easy to drink, not overpowering, great flavors.

 

Acquired a 16 oz. can with a reasonably attractive shrink wrap label in a trade. Although I periodically visit PA and always acquire some local brews, I had never heard of Wallenpaupack prior to this trade. I've definitely heard of it now as this Double Red Ale more than lived up to what I might expect of a Red Ale. Hoppier and bolder than other Red Ales I've consumed and with a 7% ABV that is barely noticeable. I was left wishing I had more than one can. I suspect this young brewery currently has limited distribution but I'll be looking for Seeing Double on future PA trips.
