16oz tallboy can courtesy of JayO'Rear. Could be my first White IPA. Not sure I know what that sub-style is supposed to be like.
Clear and golden-amber in color, with a good-sized eggshell white head. Lots of lace. Definitely a looker.
Herbal, grassy and malty in the nose. Almost seems like a German (or Italian) pilsener.
Tastes like the above, but also with a sharp, lemongrassy element. Like a hoppy witbier (and, looking up White IPA through the series of tubes call "the internets", I see that's pretty much how it should taste). The grainy maltiness is less prominent in the taste than in the nose, with the herbal and spicy characteristics pick up the slack. Unusual, but I like it.
Body is at the light end of Medium. Mouthfeel is crisp and dry for an IPA.
Really interesting spin on the IPA style, and rather refreshing. Not sure I'd be able to commit to sessioning this one at any time, but on this reasonably warm and sunny afternoon, I'm enjoying it immensely. Thanks, Jay!
