A strong, rich German-Style Lager brewed with imported Munich malt and Magnum hops. Bold flavors of cherry, raisin, and baked bread with a hint of chocolate on the back end.

Kettle Wrecker from Wallenpaupack Brewing. 16 oz can purchased from Wallenpaupack Brewing, Hawley, PA (21/10/21). $ 7.42 (including tax)/can ($0.464/oz). Stored at reefer in store and at 40 degrees after purchase. Reviewed 04/04/22. Note that I use DD/MM/YY protocol.
Stamped on bottom of can “CANNED 09/15/21”. Served at 53.0 degrees in a hand washed and dried Jester King snifter. Final temperature 56.3 degrees.
Appearance – 3.5
First pour – Medium Amber (SRM 12), clear.
Body – Ruby Brown (SRM 24), hazy. When rear-lite, ruby, and hazy.
Head – Average (Maximum 3.7 cm, aggressive center pour), wheat, low density, and average retention, diminishing to a 0.0 to 0.2 cm crown fed by moderate carbonation and no cap.
Lacing – None.
Aroma – 3.5 – Malt, no hops, no yeast.
Flavor – 3.5 – Follows nose. No ethanol (7.62 % ABV as marked on label) taste or aroma. Mild gastric warming occurs. No dimethylsulfide or diacetyl.
Palate – 3.5 – Medium, approaching full, soft but lively carbonation.
Final impression and summation 3.5 A decent doppelbock but nothing fantastic. Would drink again. Then again, I didn’t let this warm up enough because I was too anxious to try it.

Thanks to Ozzylizard for this one from NBS BIF #14. 16oz can (no date) poured into 12oz tulip. Poured a very dark, almost opaque, cola color with a half-inch of tan head that quickly dissipated int a very thin cap, and left no lacing.

Sweet malts had the front of the nose, with a slight grain scent behind that, and just hints of floral hops. Very slight chocolate and roast were hiding way in the back.

Very similar on the tongue, with a slight fruit flavor, cherry?, on the very back of the finish.

The body was fuller than medium, but less than full, smooth, carried good carb (despite the quickly disappearing head). and had a semi-sweet finish.

Drinkability was very good, a nice, easy sipper for a chilly fall day.

Overall, a pretty nice take on the style. Certainly worth a shot if you see it.

Poured from fridge temp. Pours a beautiful dark brown with a good amount of tan head. The darkness is very inviting!

Nose: Huge dose of malts right out of the gate. Toffee and dark dried fruit follow. Raisins, prunes, and a little bit of apricot. A touch of maple, as well as a nice grassy/earthy note.

Taste: Oh wow. Sweet candy, toffee, lovely fresh plums, figs, and red grapes. Freshly-baked bread and Christmas spices. Nutmeg and vanilla. A very slight hoppy bitterness on the aftertaste, but it barely says hello. This is just wonderful. A fantastic take on the style.

Mouthfeel and overall: Great medium-bodied mouthfeel with a wonderful aftertaste that lingers for a long time. Overall, this is fantastic. I am sold on this brewery's ability to do phenomenal German beers.
