I can only describe the Grafenwalder Strong Beer from the cheapo supermarket Lidl as GDF, or "Get Drunk Fast" beer. A bit in the same vein as Tennent's Extra in the UK. So I really have to be in the mood to try this... and even then I need some time to even begin to appreciate it. But being a cheapskate I keep buying this as it is special in its kind, and at only 75 eurocents a steal! Favorite snack with this beer: carrots with cheese/onion chips.

This was a really cheap beer, especially for it's 8.6% ABV, but I thought I would give it a go.
It pours an amber golden color with a coarse head that slowly collapses.
Smell was estery like apples, not very much malt to be smelled. A quite neutral smell.
Taste was alcoholic and warming with honey and marmelade wiffs. The beer has a pretty full body, which also make the beer syrupy and sticky on the lipps. In the end I taste some slight caramel.
Aftertaste is sticky and lingers for a while.
This is a decent beer, considering that this might be the masterbrew of which the lower alcoholic beer are party-giled from.It could have been better if it would have some more bitterness.

Taste, malty and grainy, some strong alcohol flavours, slight hint of banana
