Bought and consumed in La Fortuna, Costa Rica. Poured from the 350mL bottle into a wine glass. The beer is a dark orange/amber color taped with a thin white head with little retention. Smell is slightly earthy, mostly citrusy, toasty balancing malt. Brown sugar deep in there. Taste is balanced and slightly sweet with some brown sugar, fig, toasted malt, even a nutty flavor. Then comes some bitter earthy hops with some citrus to spice things up (not to mention some actual spice). This is a very balanced and drinkable brew. A really nice find in Costa Rica. Not as "refreshing" or "tropical" as some other beers, but a very solid beer nonetheless.

I was excited to try this beer while in Costa Rica but was mostly disssppointed. It looks good with a nice amber color and two fingers of foam. The smell has a hint of citrus but really not much. The taste was really the big bummer. The hops have no character. Not citrus or pine or any distinct flavor. Just some average hop bitterness that goes nowhere. The mouthfeel is too thin with no body but the carbonation was on target.
Overall this is a basic beer that is obviously a bad attempt to brew an American Style Pale Ale. The hops let you down big time and you get no satisfaction from drinking it.

a rad beer, i didnt know these types of new school hoppy beers were happening in costa rica. this one comes in a simple but attractive bottle, pours a deep copper color, dark for the style, but sports a tall white head in contrast, with just a little bit of swirling sediment in here. the hops in this beer take me by surprise, i didnt expect such an american profile here, but its decidedly citrus driven and bitter, also really fresh which is awesome, and with a sort of toasted malt base, a little sweet at first but then sort of nutty and earthy, really rounding this out. the hops burst in the flavor, lemon jellybean, grapefruit peel, and an oily complexion thats needed with the bigger grain base. toasted cereal, light caramelization, and baked bread on that side. clean though in the finish, bitter but balanced, and really well carbonated. this beer surprised me a lot, its unique in the costa rican scene i reckon, and has a ton of flavor, american hop character, and is very well made. i enjoyed this a whole lot and would love to get some more beer from these guys!
