We honor Major William Mason—Revolutionary War officer and purchaser of the city of Mason’s first 16 lots of land—with his own beer. To commemorate the city’s founder, our German Pilsner will proudly serve as The Major. Crafted with a regiment of German malts and hops, the pilsner has a complex aroma of mild spice, biscuit, and floral tones. This flagship beer leads with a full-bodied, smooth feel but commands
a refreshingly dry and crisp finish. Salute to The Major!

On tap at the brewery, poured into a pint glass.
Appearance: Light gold, minimal head, decent lacing, bubbles visible.
Nose: Minimal; slight baked bread, some sweetness, a bit of spice.
Mouthfeel: Gentle; adequate carbonation.
Attack: This is where it gets good: Bread, and just enough sweetness, crisp.
Finish: Gentle hop bitterness.
Overall: Though there could be much more head and perhaps greater nose, this has become my absolute favorite south German Pilsner because of the flavor and the gentle mouthfeel. Brewer Jeff Cosgrove worked hard on this, and it shows. Even though I like variety — and especially stouts, porters, and browns — and careful pairing with food, I could drink this beer every day. I'm a bit embarrassed it's taken me this long to rate it. Thanks for this, 16 Lots. I look forward to drinking this every time I'm at the brewery, and every time I pick up a six pack.

12 ounce can, canned on 07/22/2020. Served in a Rastal Craft Master One pint glass, the beer pours a mostly clear gold color with about an inch white head. Head retention and lacing are both decent enough. The brew smells like bready/grainy malt and grassy/floral hops. Taste is similar to the aroma, however there's also some herbalness noticeable too. Do think the breadiness stands out the most. Mouthfeel/body is light, and has a moderate amount of carbonation. I thought this was OK overall, wouldn't mind trying it again in the future. Not sure if I'd buy a six pack of this, but certainly worth picking up a single to try.
