Served on tap at the brewery (Mason) in a snifter.
Look: Black, with a half inch dark beige head that lingered nicely and left adequate lacing.
Nose: Dark chocolate, a little cherry, cooked brown sugar.
Mouthfeel: Thick and creamy, adequate carbonation.
Attack: Chocolate and a lot of sweet cherry.
Finish: Just enough bitterness from the dark roast, and a bit of sourness from the residual cherry flavor.
Overall: This is a nice sipper — not my go-to beer or one I'd want to have too often, but a nice occasional sipper, especially an evening or dessert sipper. Pretty nicely balanced for as sweet as the nose and attack are.
