Appearance - Mildly turbid caramel color. Two-finger parchment colored head that faded quickly into broken lacing that clings well to the glass.
Smell - Bread, yeast, caramel with only a very slight malt aroma.
Taste - Caramel, nuts, with back-end bitterness that lingers for quite a while. Very slight malty sweetness. I expected more sweetness like many other amber ales but it was only faint. Not very complex flavors but enough to hold interest.
Mouthfeel - Moderate carbonation but a thin feel that quickly dissipates. Starts out feeling rich and full but disappears quickly.
Overall - Man At Arms is for evenings when I want to throw back a few and relax. It's an average Amber Ale but perfectly drinkable. I will buy it again. By the way, it tastes better when it warms up a bit

CAN: $1.49 USD plus tax at Martin Wine Cellar, New Orleans, LA.
Pretty mediocre, frankly. Malt build is strangely bready and the hop profile is weirdly herbal. Poorly attenuated. Doughy but not toasty. Lacks balance (i.e. bitterness). Feels raw, like unraised bread.
A swing and a miss from Flying Tiger...one of the poorer Ambers I've had in the last year.
Low C- / BELOW AVERAGE

07/14/20 accidentally nabbed another sixer for $8.69 USD plus tax at a beer store in New Orleans, LA:
Doughy yeast. Amber malt. Some gooey caramel. Maybe faint toastiness/bread crust.
Smooth, wet, medium-bodied. Well carbonated.
Not great, but drinkable.

Looks clear dark amber with a slightly tan head. Smell is malt and toffee with some toasted or slightly burnt bread. The taste follows the nose, moderate toasted flavor upfront with some raisin dark dried fruit flavors that are very faint. The body seemed medium to me. It has a fairly complex flavor but not something I could drink more than one or two of. It is called an Amber Ale on the can but I told the rep who gave me the sample that it tasted like a Vienna Lager and he said it was indeed a lager and not an ale.

Man At Arms has a thick, oddly-fizzing ivory head, a hazy, brilliant rust-red appearance, and no glass lacing. The aroma is of salt-water taffy, red malts, and tannins. The flavor is similar, with a noticeable sourness. Mouthfeel is light to medium, and Mat At Arms finishes medium dry.

Drinkable but just lacks a smooth crisp amber taste.
