Pours a dark brownish-red hue with a thick head into my glass. Roasty, sweet malt in the nose translates in the taste, with a very subtle brown sugar hint. Clean, sweet finish. It's been a while since I've sampled an amber ale. Mill River has gotten off to a great start.

On tap at the brewhouse.
The appearance was obviously a dark amber color with a stifled small white head. Barely any lace. But this was a bar pour so I get it.
The aroma had a very nice level maple tone to it, not overbearing not underwhelming just hit the spot where I wanted it. Light grassy to piney hoppiness with a little bit of dark toast.
The flavor leads with the maple sweetness and added a touch of dark bready toast and a light grassy to piney hoppiness. Mild aftertaste of maple and dark toast.
The mouthfeel was full bodied which was nice to find in an amber alert. Some sessionable traits made this feel right with the carbonation level and ABV. Mild finish of piney and grassiness compelling themselves on the maple smoothness. It's a good smoothness but with a sly dryness.
Overall, would be a great transition beer from Winter to Spring but not a bad dessert beer for this July.
