Appearance - Pours a rusty copper with four fingers of frothy off-white head.
Smell - piney, earthy, citrus, leafy, weedy, and herbal hops, mild pine resin, hint of spruce needles, grapefruit and citrus peel, caramel, bready malts, and earthy yeast.
Taste - mild piney, earthy, citrus, leafy, weedy, and herbal hops upfront. The pine resin is not as dominant in this one but shows a little bite. The hint of spruce is there but is lost from the dominance of the grapefruit and citrus peel. The caramel, bready malts, and earthy yeast round out the brew.
Mouthfeel - Medium bodied with light to moderate carbonation, Finishes sticky but a tad thin for the style. The hops and malts linger.
Overall - An IPA that demonstrates the basic elements of a West coast IPA but misses out on the pine aspect that is advertised in the name. Ah well, it's a easy drinker considering the ABV.
