52 Fatal Strikes is a New England IPA fermented with a blend of our house yeast and sake yeast. Brewed with a base of barley, wheat, and rice, this beer was hopped with a deadly amount of Mosaic, Cashmere and Topaz. In order to sharpen this beer’s edges we hand-zested a couple hundred limes to compliment the hops. Crisp and refreshing this beer has big notes of key lime pie, guava and citrus rind but finishes dry and light from the sake yeast. Duel of the iron mic, it’s the 52 Fatal Strikes!

A: Pours a milky murky bright lemon yellow in color with moderate amounts of fine active visible carbonation rising quickly along the edges of the glass and moderate bright yellow + pale yellow + straw yellow colored highlights. The beer has a three finger tall sudsy foamy pillowy bright white head that slowly reduces to a large patch of thick film covering the entire surface of the beer and a thick ring at the edges of the glass. Moderate amounts of lacing are observed.
S: Moderate to strong aromas of juicy tropical/guava + tropical/lychee + citrus/lime + stone fruit/peach hops over the top of moderate aromas of biscuit + wheat malts with rice adjuncts and a light amount of sugary sweetness. Light aromas of sake yeast and moderate aromas of citrus/lime zest.
T: Upfront there are just shy of moderate flavors of biscuit + wheat malts with rice adjuncts and a light amount of sugary sweetness. That is followed by light to moderate flavors of sake yeast and moderate flavors of citrus/lime zest. Finally there are moderate to strong flavors of juicy tropical/guava + tropical/lychee + citrus/lime + stone fruit/peach hops which impart a hint of bitterness which fades away almost instantly leaving light lingering citrus/lime zest + tropical/lychee hop flavors.
M: Slightly heavier than light bodied with moderate to heavy amounts of carbonation. Slightly crisp upfront with a moderate amount of dryness in the finish.
O: Easy to drink with well hidden alcohol and a pleasantly crisp + dry mouthfeel. Very enjoyable and the sake yeast definitely adds a different dimension to this beer. Really found the hop profile complemented the sake yeast well - lychee, lime, guava, and peach.

I love it when a beer surprises you. Our local shop, Wine Warehouse in Charlottesville VA, got this in. I was intrigued by the descriptor of lime zest and sake yeast but kind of forget that when I cracked it open.
One of the nicest NEIPA beers I’ve had even if it blurs the description. I like that it’s got a modest alcohol level, in line with a pale. Look is cloudy and yellow, like a tropical fruit juice moreso than orange.
Amazing tropical flavors and a dry finish. I get some light guava, a bit of pineapple, and don’t really taste the lime but it seems to brighten the beer like citrus does in a cooked dish.
Will grab more if see it again.
