DEATH DOESN’T DISCRIMINATE is a Triple New England IPA brewed with our friends @foambrewers. We had a blast with the Foam crew brewing this beer. We started with a grain bill of 2-row, wheat, malted oats and Foam was nice enough to bring down some of their VT flaked wheat which was killer. From there we hopped this with their proprietary hop blend on the hotside. This was fermented with an extremely expressive yeast and dry hopped with Citra, Nelson and Riwaka. Tasting notes of peach and mango with a resinous finish.

LOOKS & FRESHNESS: Received a pint can dated...no date detected...actually just looked again and found it printed on the lower side of the can and it's 9/9/22 and I am drinking it now, 12/30/22. Since it's in a can and was stored cold, I'm good with the date. Anything over 6 months--at least IPAs--worries me. And I got this in SoCal, so not too bad!

Cool can art with a dark black and purple grim reaper and a car insinuating, from the name and art, that we never know when we may die. Well, I'm about to drink a big beer so this'll speed things a long a bit I guess.

OK, pours a dark, opaque amber with minimal foamy head, about a half a finger that is dense and sticks around. Looks cool in the tulip glass! I wouldn't drink a beer like this from the can unless I had to, you'd miss a lot on the tongue!

Smell: Big citrus hop aroma but it is a triple, so it's overwhelmed by the backbone of what, malted oats, etc. Smells inviting, but nothing major.

TASTE: Hoppy zing right away with loads of citrus hops, funky dankness mixed in with candied fruits and all an "orangey" zest. Not too crazy, big hops but smoothed out with all the softness of wheat and oats. A true hazy but almost a mix between a double IPA and a hazy. There is an almost oniony funk that really shows how hoppy this beer is, and you get that on the end of the taste as it finishes medium. I think this may be the Nelson hops coming through as they tend to show off that "spicier," stronger hoppy flavor and I think this is cool. This isn't a mark against the beer by the way, it's just a real hop bomb and since it's billed as a triple, that's good and to be expected!

OVERALL: This is a cool beer. I don't love triples, but as a gift I enjoyed it and am impressed by the craft that went into this one. It hits you with a hop blast that is rather balanced, but a bit sweet due to the high ABV and the fact that it's a triple. If I were to drink just one beer in the evening, I'd take one of these because it's big and will leave lots of hop resin on your tongue and is memorable for it's funkier, stronger hop varietal.

The beer is beautiful in the glass. Deep orange-amber color with a thick yellowish white head that settles slowly.

The beer has a very subtle nose with hints of orange and guava at the beginning and malt and pine at the end.

The flavor on this beer is simple but delicious. It has a strong orange rush of flavor upfront with lingering orange, pith and pine on the finish.

The mouthfeel is amazing. Full body, smooth with enough carbonation to tickle you tongue at the end. Beautiful.

Overall, I love this beer. It's not too complex but it is delicious.
