Golden amber with a moderate, barely off-white head that leaves respectable lacing. Fantastically fruity-floral Jasmine aroma, with unexpected notes of rich black tea, pipe tobacco, grape candy, wisteria, and balsa wood. Very, very nice. The flavor is mellow and balanced, with a not-at-all-bitter Jasmine tea flavor, like the first pour at a meal of dim sum, and pleasantly honey-sweet malts at the forefront. The floral flavor is mostly delightful but also vaguely soapy, and at least for my tastes, there is not enough attenuation or hop bitterness to keep this from being a bit too sweet. That said, it's tasty and easy-going, and it would be amazing with a lot of Cantonese food. In fact, I wish I had some right now. Possible food pairings: gua bao, dim sum, Peking/crispy aromatic duck, jamon, curry goat, Taleggio.

A 500ml bottle with a BB of July 2014. Picked up a while back from Trembling Madness in York. The label describes it as an IPA brewed with jasmin green tea (from Taylors) and jasmin flowers. A collaboration with Melissa Cole, this beer is hopped with Admiral, Cascade, Crystal and Galaxy.

Poured into a tulip pint glass. Bottle conditioned. A deep, hazy amber hue with fine sediment and plentiful carbonation. Yields a decent head of creamy white foam that lasts for a couple of minutes before subsiding to a patchy surface layer. Aroma of fruity hops and subtle tea, with hints of pine, faint weed, mild citrus, grass/hay, green tea, delicate floral notes, caramel malt, earthy yeast and stewed herbs/hops. Pretty good.

Tastes of aromatic hops with a mild herbal character and a dry, bitter finish. Notes of pine resin, dank weed, grapefruit, peel, citrus, floral hints, grass/hay, green tea, earthy yeast, caramel malt and stewed herbs/hops. Well-attenuated, followed by a strident, hoppy bitterness upon swallowing. Mouthfeel is smooth, tingly and dry, with pleasant carbonation and good body. Hop oils tantalise the palate. Somewhat astringent, accompanied by an aftertaste of bitter aromatic hops, subtle tea, herbs and earthy yeast.

Rather nice - a satisfying IPA with a twist. Looks good, while the aroma and flavour are seriously hoppy and suffused with a subtle green tea character. The malt takes a back seat but provides balance. Body is great. Goes down nicely and delivers a good hop fix. Worth sampling if you come across it.

500ml bottle bought from The Vineyard, Belfast...

Poured an amber colour with a faint haze. White head poured quite loose and foamy then faded slowly to decent thickish coating.. quite a lot of carbonation and a decent amount of patchy sticky lacing...

Aroma - Good amount of floral and citrus hops, hints of mint, light caramel maltiness, wet grass notes, some medicinal notes, light earthy tea, pretty perfumed, some sea salt notes, light tart fruitiness (apples, light orange and some grapefruit), some faint graininess...

Taste - Again a decent light citrusy hop bite, pine notes, lightly perfumed, again some mint, some floral notes, light grassy tea, grapefruit and lemon fruitiness, light biscuit malt sweetness, earthy, faint caramel...

M&D - Quite sharp and dry... light bodied... pretty refreshing and drinkable...

Overall - A pretty good IPA where the tea definitely comes through... well worth a try though

Coming in a 500ml brown bottle, not bottle-conditioned; BB 07/2014, Batch 3408, served cool in a straight pint glass. Notes: The back label suggests “Jasmine Green Tea IPA brewed in collaboration with Taylors of Harrogate, a family-owned tea merchant responsible for some of the best-loved teas in Britain. Simpson’s Golden Promise pale malt provides a backdrop for a blend of four hops, jasmine flowers and Taylors’ Green Tea with Jasmine, creating a mixed-fruit and floral aroma, with a balanced bitterness and green tea finish. English Admiral hops have been used to provide a citrus backbone to the beer, whilst the addition of three New World hops (Cascade, Crystal and Galaxy) enhances the fruit and jasmine aromas.”

A: pours a bright dark orangey amber colour, with faint haze, a well-lasting but thin layer of off-white froth, and a healthy supply of carbonation.
S: softly flowery, with light notes of jasmine & lychee shells, as well as gooseberry-ish, citric fruity and honey-ish at the same time, against a relatively milder malty backdrop; really really pleasant.
T: softly effervescent on the entry, the foretaste comes softly citric fruity and jasmine flowery with a belated feed of lychee-ish aroma and mildly acidic sweetness in the end. Quickly ensuing is a flow of chewy tea tannins and hop bitterness which coats the palate with soothing herbal feel, while pale malts consistently carry forward all other “breezy” flavour elements with a soft touch.
M&O: softly carbonated, medium-bodied, nicely balanced in flavour, fruity and elegantly bitter, all in all a very successful tea-infused IPA really pleasant to quaff.
