Tasted from gravity-serve cask at Fat Cat Freehouse in Norwich, UK...
Appearance: onyx black, opaque, sudy layer of tan foam
Aroma: roast/coffee, licorice, hop resin, hint of smoke
Flavor: mild sweetness with a rounded roasty component, a robust passion fruity hop flavor peaks through the roast, licorice, very mild bitterness in the deceptively dry finish with a residual hop-resin and hint of iron aftertaste
Mouthfeel: medium body, low carbonation, silky smooth texture
Other comments: Took me by surprise as I was expecting a more run-of-the-mill stout with perhaps a little licorice flavor, but this is quite scrumptious. Eyebrow-raising at least!
