Handpump halfpint at the Eagle and Child in Oxford.
A: Clear bright gold body under a thin but persistent head of fine, clumpy off-white foam that leaves sticky lace. Great.
S: Hoppiness dominates with dank, herbal aromas standing out ahead of more floral and lemony notes. Man I love Galaxy hops.
T: Fruitier and more balanced here, with citrus hops and bready malt going hand in hand toward a clean, herbal, bitter finish. Hops linger on the aftertaste; delicious.
M: Light carbonation in a light body. Pretty standard for cask.
O: Wonderful beer! I only stopped into the Bird & Baby out of nostalgia for my childhood obsession with Tolkien, and expected it to have the standard (i.e. crappy) touristy offerings. Instead I was treated to this gem.
Cheers!
