A 500ml bottle with a BB of Sept 2013. Bottle #0127. Purchased a little while back from Trembling Madness in York. Described on the label as a Jasmine Green Tea IPA brewed in collaboration with Melissa Cole (a beer writer). Brewer's Gold, Cascade, Crystal and Galaxy are the hop varieties used in this ale, in addition to jasmine flowers and green tea.

Poured into a tulip pint glass. Bottle conditioned. A hazy golden-amber hue with ultra-fine sediment and low carbonation. Yields a large head of creamy white foam that lasts for a few minutes before subsiding. Aroma of fruity hops and floral notes, with hints of jasmine, citrus, grass and mild green tea. Underpinned by a backbone of light caramel malt and earthy yeast. Vaguely reminiscent of scented soap, though not in a bad way....

Tastes of fruity hops with a floral character and a dry, bitter finish. Notes of grapefruit, white grape, melon, peel, citrus, mild jasmine, earthy yeast, faint tea and stewed hops. Well-attenuated, with a mild herbal quality. A strident bitterness upon swallowing. Mouthfeel is smooth, dry and lightly tingly, with good body. Could be a tad more effervescent. Pretty astringent, with an aftertaste of bitter aromatic hops, mild herbs and earthy yeast.

Tasty - a quality IPA with an interesting twist. Looks good, while the aroma and flavour are great: plenty of fruity hops with subtler hints of jasmine and tea. The jasmine comes across particularly well in the aroma. Decent body, though could benefit from increased carbonation. The unusual flavour additions to this brew are well-judged; not dominant yet meshing successfully with the hops. A stellar effort - well worth sampling if you chance across it.
