Poured from 500mL bottle into my BeerAdvocate tulip. There's no date on this bottle, although the ABV is different than the original entry -- this one clocks in at 8.6%. This is a cherry sour aged 12 months in Westland whiskey barrels.

Appearance: rich, dark amber hue with a dash of haze. It poured with about a finger of sparse white foam, but that dissipated pretty quickly.

Smell: lots of cherry, a little bit of sourness, and a subtle but enticing oaky, sweet character from the whiskey. I'm really interested in seeing where this is going!

Taste: whoo, very tart indeed, way more tart than I would have guessed from the aroma. The cherry remains strong, and although the whiskeyness is faded in comparison to the aroma, there's a residual sweetness that reminds me rather of an oud bruin. The tartness is a little much for me, but otherwise, very tasty.

Mouthfeel: medium body with a low carbonation and an okay creaminess. I get that BA beers can have low carbonation, but this is perhaps low even for that.

Overall: I like this beer a lot, particularly the aroma, although I would like it more with the sourness turned down a notch and the carbonation turned up a notch.

Thanks to my friend Chris for this. 12.7oz bottle poured into 12oz tulip. Poured a clean, clear dark gold color with just a thin cap of white head that had low retention and lacing.

Bourbon had the front of the nose, supported by some tartness, with a nice dose of cherries in the background.

Same on the tongue, just with everything amplified. The cherries added a nice counterbalance to the bourbon.

The body was on the thin side of medium, smooth, and had a dry and tart finish.

Drinkability was good, but I'm not sure I'd want two in a row.

Overall, a pretty nice brew. Worth a shot if you see it.
