Tasted by a half-pint at the Hillsborough Hotel, a Sheffield brewpub; hand-pulled w/o a sparkler.
A: dark yellow-ish straw in colour with great clarity, with a thin white foam that is fed by fine, microscopic fizziness underneath.
S: a dense, nectar-ish floral aroma pairs grapefruity hops, while a swirl brings out lemony scents and a refreshing sour fruitiness with a touch of hays.
T: citric fruitiness upfront leads towards lightly grassy & spicy hop bitterness (reminiscent of true Saaz hops), against a very mildly malty backbone that seems to intensify in flavour slowly; the finish sees a clean and dry palate and a vertical bitter aftertaste as from whole-flower hops.
M&D: clean and crisp in texture, added with a superbly-controlled carbonation. This Blonde Bitter is more like a Premium Pilsner even, and a truly more-ish drink to me!
