Poured into a pint glass from a swing top bottle.
Initially picked up just for a few extra swing tops for homebrew.

A - Pours a clear gold with minimal white head.

S - smells like a nice blend of hops and malt, like a well made Budweiser if you will.

T - Lacking on aftertaste, but a good blend of malt and hops for how large of a brewery it is. I'm impressed considering what I was expecting. Tastes like how B/M/C should taste.

M - a little watery, and not much carbonation to it. Crisp, and goes down easily.

D - Overall, this is a quaffable summer beer for those who want to play drinking games with something that isnt a BMC. Decent, but nothing out of the ordinary

Typical moderate-priced summer-gulper, somewhat along the lines of a Heineken in flavor but not as biting-bubbly carbonation. Basically a decent 3.2% ABV light beer.

A= Golden corn yellow, nice white styrofoam-style head.

S= Modest scent introducing the light hops florals, corn and sweet malts.

T= Somewhat akin to a US Macro but far better. Sweet malts and corn with some hops florals and slightly dry grassy hops rather than bitters.

M= clean palate, nothing offensive. In fact, a lot more to savor than any US Macro that I can think of.

D= very drinkable for any occasion, or for a good "rinse" beer for mega-IPA fans between those massive hops beers.

12 oz bottle poured into a Pilsner glass. Best by date 09June'09

A - Clear golden yellow with a large white head of two fingers size. Decent retention and sticky lacing.

S - Sweet corn, dry straw, and light malts with a low level of hops detectable on the nose.

T - Sweet corn and malts flood the palate. Adjunct in flavor with a slight hop crispness to it. No bitterness at all but some unsettling flavor lingering in the background. Slight apple cider.

M - Its quite smooth actually with a refreshing crisp and slightly dry aspect to it.

D - Its a drinkable brew of course. A bit sweeter of a beer for a lawn mower type but it will go down nicely and refresh too.

Grolsch Light pours a surprisingly darker than expected golden body beneath a solid finger of fluffy bright white lace that holds exceptionally well and leaves some very nice rings of lace about the glass. Median-sized bubbled can be seen racing upwards, and there's a little bit of crinkling to be heard if you put your ear to the glass as the head subsides.

Unfortunately my sample is light-stuck and "skunky" in the nose. Beyond that there's some sweetish, grainy and straw-like grassy notes. I'd imagine that an unskunked bottle, or draft, would be quite pleasant.

The flavor is lighter than the standard Grolsch to be sure, but it's not watery. In fact, I'd argue that there are quite a few "pilsners" on the market that have less flavor than this. It's got a decent maltiness to it, and some hops as well, and it's grainy, grassy, softly herbal, lightly sweet with a very soft drop of honey, and even a bit floral and spicy. The bitterness is low, but of course it has to be in a light beer. It could stand a little bit more bitterness as there's actually some malt here, but it follows the balance of the original Grolsch. It's malty and bitter at once, then a touch more bitter across the middle, and then much softer in the finish.

For a light beer it's got a good amount of flavor and complexity with some very nice malt and hop flavors working together to complete the whole. I'm not sure how many calories are in this, but it's certainly one of the better light beers I've tried.

Pours with a decent light lager head .. lacing is also pretty good for a light lager ... smell of some grass and lite skunk ... a nice effort that is enjoyably toned down of the original... all in all: A nice light effort that i could drink when on diet at the beach in Houston pretending i am in Holland, but most dutch would point and laugh so... ..."sometimes I wonder, did he buy the frisbee?"

Tiny 2 mm head which disappeared immediately.

Clean smell, relative to other Grolsch varieties. Nothing offensive.

Tasted like unsweetened lemonade, without the sourness. Also just reminded me of unfiltered tap water - straight from the hose!

Very light mouthfeel, as you might expect. Sort of reminded me of seltzer water.

This beer is fine if you're just looking for something refreshing with no real character.

Poured into a standard pint glass.

A - Pale yellow coloration. Produced a very minimal head that disappeared rather quickly. No lacing or retention. Looks like a standard light lager.

S - Not much of anything, some grass notes and a bit of skunk.

T - Egads, someone stole the beer flavor! Tastes like seltzer water with a mildly sour aftertaste. Slightly metallic and and a bit unpleasant.

M - Thin bodied, watery, mild carbonation level, aftertaste lingers on the tongue for a while, and that's not a good thing.

D - A massive step down from Grolsch Premium, which is not a bad brew at all. In the process of turning it into a light brew, however, they definitely lost something. I will not revisit and would not recommend, even for fans of Grolsch.

Threw in as part of a mixed 6 pack I purchased at the end of '07. Finally got around to it when I noticed that the bottle has a best by 25JAN2008. Whoops, missed it by a few days.

Appearance: Poured from the green bottle into a pilsner glass. The beer is clear, light golden with a nice fluffy white head, nearly two inches in height. Head slowly fades to a solid color with some decent lacing.

Smell: The good, I don't get any skunk, probably because this has little in the way of hops. That leads to the bad, this has little aroma. There is a scent of some faint musty grains, little else.

Taste: Much like the scent it has little flavor, but that is more a style characteristic than an outright flaw.

Mouthfeel: Light in body, crisp, with a clean finish (no aftertaste).

Drinkability: This is a nice, easy drinking lager that hits the spot. Problem is, this is a bit pricy when compared to other light lagers. This is important because for me when I buy light lagers I just want cheap easy to consume. Good, but not worth immediate reputchase.

12 ounce bottle from my neighbor

Poured a deep golden color into my pint glass

No head and the smell was just a small touch of barley

Tasted like regular Grolsch just not as heavy and taste does not last as long

Could drink a lot of these mainly because they are so light

Pours a crystal clear shade of straw with a massive four finger head of snowy white froth. Great retention with a spectacular coat of lacing. Pils and pale lager malt aromas, a whiff of sulfer and a weak light struck odor. Sharp Pilsener malt and malted rice flavor upfront, followed by a mild skunk taste. Flash of soft cluster hop bitterness, enough to balance. The aftertaste shows some tannic notes, but becomes very dry quickly and any lingering flavors are erased. The thin, well-attentuated body and high carbonation with little malt or hop character produce a fizzy, effervescent mouthfeel much like a soda-pop. Finishes squeeky clean and exceedingly drinkable. A good example of the style, but still leans heavily towards the lighter side; it is very easy to forget that you a drinking a beer.

There is actually nothing offensive about this beer but it has little redeeming qualities other than the H2O present. Cold and refreshing sure but mostly tasteless.

Appearance: Pale pee color with a fizzy soda like head that fades instantly and leaves no lace at all.

Smell: The fizzy water seemed mostly devoid of aroma but there is a stale grain bitter odor that eventually emerges.

Taste: The flavor is fleeting but wisps of grain and there is an indistinct bitterness lacking any fresh hop flavor but it is not *that* bad, just pointless.

Mouthfeel: Very light which is appropriate to style my main complaint was the over-carbonation. Way too fizzy.

Drinkability: Yes this is a beer I would stomach out of curtsey. I have had worse Light Lagers but I would never buy or drink many. The fizzyness is to high and the flavor too low.

Hope this is helpful.

Grolsch Light Lager pours a darker color than I expected, more of a light amber color with a white head. It comes packaged in a green twelve ounce bottle. It doesn't have much of an aroma, just a slightest hint of sweet malt. The mouthfeel is very thin. But there is certainly more flavor going on here than in most light lagers. It's still of a Grolsch variety, meaning that it kind of tastes a little like a regular Grolsch, grassy European hops and a bit of sweet malt, but in a format where the taste is almost barely noticeable. It is quite watered down though. Not a bad choice for a light lager, green bottles may effect condition, buyer beware.

Drank this for free earlier this evening. I am currently on vacation with family in Florida. This was sitting in the fridge when we arrived here. A 12 oz bottle poured into a tumbler. This beer pours a light to medium clear golden color. Head is about 1/3 inch when poured. Settles to a pretty thin surface cover 2 minutes or so after being poured. Not much lacing. Has a sort of foul, grainy smell with light malt and hops and some vegetable adjuncts. Somewhat malty sweet upfront followed by some fairly mellows hops and a hint of corn maybe. Good balance, but I certainly wish the flavors were stronger overall. Has a crisp, light to medium bodied mouthfeel. Carbonation was fairly heavy, which I found surprising considering the poor head and retention this beer had. Pretty easy to drink, but not necessarily in the way a good beer should be. Feels more like seltzer water than a good beer. Worth a try I guess, but I certainly would not go out of my way to drink this again.

Thin fizzy head atop a body that can only be described as yellowish water. Head disintegrates within seconds of pour.

Stale, grainy odor with a touch of corn sweetness.

OK, the taste isn't offensive but it isn't a taste one should look for in a beer. Largely watery with distant hop bitterness and a totally uninteresting malt presence.

After the initial burst of carbonation the texture of the beer becomes watery at best. It is easy to drink but do you really want to? Lawnmower beer at best.

12 oz green bottle

Grolsch is a pale yellow light lager that drinks crisp, clean and easy to quaff. Low hop character, and is balanced. Lower in flavor, however this is a light lager and I usually don’t drink this style. It is [a little] above average for the style and its price is very economical.
It should be a good brew to drink on a hot day.

more bitter than other light lager's...more flavor than other light lagers...crisper....not too bad on aftertaste. fizzyfoamy. This is sooo much better than Heiny lt! They should have taken notice a long time ago. This is not a great beer...but for the style it is pretty good. The bitter euro lager is still their but the calories are not. Some corn...but a nice earthy bitter finish for a can...affordable...for an import...but ALL light beers are overpriced on the flavor to cost ratio...but if you can't afford(or find) Mar's ...or you want a little more abv...this is a good alternative.

I’d been painting outside on a hot summer night, and just grabbed this one that someone gave me. A good thirst quencher and actually had a good flavor and finish. I wasn’t expecting much, but got more than I thought. It doesn’t make sense that I’m rating this fairly high, being a big-name, light import, but I actually liked this. I’m sure if I were taste testing this under different circumstances, it would not do as well, but hey...I call ’em as I see ’em.

Pours a very pale, dull yellow with a brief, fizzy white head. A first taste, this brew is stale and grainy, but the flavor softens up a bit after a few more sips: it remains grainy but with some mild though balancing hop flavor. Also, the mildly silky mouthfeel is just a bit better than that of most light lagers. However, it’s still bland and stale, and even though that’s kinda the case with most light lagers, there are certainly better examples of the style than this one. Not recommended.
