On draught, a very dark pour with a nice head and a little random lacing.
Aroma of roasted caramelized barley malt, as is the flavor. Molasses, chocolate, coffee and vanilla are all strong on this one.
The oysters lucky enough to make it into the brew kettle in this recipe, died happy I’m sure.
The finish is very nice on this one,
semi-sweetness fades into tanginess.
A very nice oyster stout. You could pour a few shots over a couple scoops of vanilla ice cream and have a nice dessert.

16 ounce draft pour into a tulip pint at the brewery.
L: Black in the glass, ruby highlights, one inch tan head, dense foam is very persistent, sheets of lace.
S: Roasted and caramel malt.
T: Good balance of roasted and caramel malts, oats, no perceptible oyster or seafood stock flavor but there is a subtle umami flavor and hints of weak brine.
F: Medium-weight body, middling carbonation, silky smooth and creamy, really nice feel.
O: Brewery staff told me they use whole oysters in the boil for this one but I didn't ask about quantity. It's adds subtle character if any but this is an excellent stout either way. A lack of hop presence has this drinking more like an "English" oatmeal stout.

16 oz can poured into a nonic pint glass. Pours an opaque near-black with a rocking tan head. Excellent lacing. Aroma and flavor feature dark roasted malts, coffee, bitter dark chocolate, a hint of vanilla, and maybe a touch of salinity - although I wouldn't have noticed it if I hadn't been looking for it, so who knows. Mouthfeel is rich, smooth, full-bodied, and creamy. Moderate carbonation. Apart from being an oyster stout, this is basically a perfect American stout. Wow. Probably my favorite Crooked Crab beer yet. I am picking up another 4-pack so we will see whether those beers measure up to this first one.
