German black lager, brewed with dark Munich and debittered chocolate malt for a surprisingly smooth flavor and superior drinkability. May the schwarz be with you!

Pretty standard for a Schwarzbier, but I have to say they knocked it out of the park visually. This is one of the sexiest looking beers I've ever seen with a perfect rocky foam, plenty of lacing, and a very dark brown body that is just on the line of black. Differentiates itself from a stout in look quite well. Also imparts a bit to the feel as the carbonation levels need to be perfect for it to look this good, and nothing feels worse than an overly carbonated dark beer.

16 ounce can poured into a tumbler pint glass.

Big rocky tan head over a dark brown clear body. The persistent foam is dense and sticky and leaves lots of lace.

The nose is medium strength and malt forward, roasted malt, cola caramel and light notes of spicy noble hops. Nice roasted malt flavor. It has a good balance of dry roast bitterness and sweet malt. As with the nose, spicy hops are in the background. Light bodied with a softer mouthfeel adding some weight to it. Moderately carbonated. It finishes with a little chalky mouth coat.

Solid and rather good overall. This can is over a year old, either this is holding up well or the fresh version is fantastic.

Dark brown body with a large, thick, lasting tan head and very good lacing. Roasted malt aroma with notes of caramel and coffee. Modestly hopped, bittersweet chocolate flavor. Subtle notes of dark fruit linger in the aftertaste. Smooth, medium bodied, gently carbonated mouthfeel. Overall, enjoying the style, the freshness and the local factor.

16 oz can poured into a tulip pint glass. Pours nearly pitch black with a moderate head. Nice lacing. Aroma and flavor feature bitter chocolate, coffee, dark roasted malt, and a hint of vanilla. Kind of muted, though, otherwise the scores would be higher. Overall it's a tasty schwarzbier, but again, not quite as robust as I was expecting.
