A deep gold bavarian-style hefe-weizen. Floor malted wheat malt and central european pilsner malt fermented with a traditional hefeweizen yeast strain.

Excellent hefe aroma of banana and spices. Sweet breadiness.
Color is dark yellow, a bit hazy, heavy carbonation. Tall, thick white head with good retention, forming a pitted surface as it recedes, 'spotty lacing as I drink that mostly slips back down into the head.
Smooth flavor, banana, clove, crackery bread. No bittering. The middle remains smooth and flavorful, just very slightly sweet. The finish and aftertaste leaves the banana and clove flavors lingering, somewhat stickily, in the mouth. Could be a bit more crisp, but even so, it is a good hot weather refresher.
The mouth feel has a moderate body and good carbonation.
Overall, a very nicely done hefeweizen (as expected from Waldmann).

From a 750 crowler into a hefe glass. Looks great…all in all, it is in target for what one wants from the style. A little more clove than banana, which is fine by me. Full and rich flavors, though it doesn’t develop much over the course of a mouthful. Also on the sweeter side of things, and a tad heavy on the mouthful, without much twang, so a few points off…but all in all, nicely done. Not quite up to the standard of Schell’s Hefe, but that is a high bar.

750ml crowler. No dating found.
Cloudy, pale gold colored body. Two fingers of white head upon pouring, which recedes to a partial cap. No lacing.
Aroma of wheat malt with pencil eraser, and a little banana and cloves.
Taste has the banana and cloves along with the wheat malt. Some tang from the wheat. All flavors trail off together in the aftertaste.
Medium mouth feel. Good carbonation.
A little short on head retention. Smells and flavors are somewhat vague, but this beer is from a crowler. May provide a different experience from the brewery tap. What is presented is balanced and true to style.
