At the brewery, along with a plate of wurst. Served in a willibecher, this is a historical curiosity i guess…definitely different from most Americans lagers you come across today…I know some brewers occasionally take old recipes for a spin, but I don’t remember those efforts so can’t compare. This looks great in the glass, kind of a chilly 90% clear bright gold, with a 1 finger head. There is a lot more corn in here than any beer I can remember…it is pretty sweet (but in a starchy and creamed corn way, definitely not caramel or toffee sweet) on both the nose and the taste, though the nose is almost entirely dominated by it whereas the taste delivers more balance with some (also kind of sweet) grainy malts as well as a decent dose of almost grassy but slightly more floral hops. Full body, carbonation is middle to low, but very crisp feel.
