A Kolsch, not a lager. The BB date is 04/05/06.
A: pale straw hue, with a very tight, frothy head with good retention; medium carbonation.
S: slightly lemony-hoppy aroma of Hersbrucker(?) upfront and a very mild, corn-like grainy as well as bready note of malts, combined with a soft, sweet buttery note with a faint hint of bannoffie pie--softly fruity as well as aromatic, but as understated-nice as one expects of a Kolsch.
T&M: soft texture of bready lager-malts hits the palate upfront, joined by an equally mild flow of lime-fruity hops with a touch of light bitterness. The hoppyness at the back remains soft but sustains well along with light but lingering bitter finish. The mouthfeel is very refreshing and soul-lifting--light on palate but not too thin in body.
D: personally, I think the slightly timid flavour is in need of some more pronounced hoppyness to make it a genuine Kolsch-like ale. An easy-drinking session beer though.

4 pack, 330ml bottles
Pours with a light golden body, white fluffy head, fair retention, some lacing
Smell, aromas of fresh grassy hops, biscuity, malty, some slightly 'off' aromas akin to soil but only slight
Taste, residual hop bitterness, grassy fresh hops, some malty biscuit backbone, quite a light body
A nice lager, does taste similar to a good pils from czech rep. or germany, a thicker body would have helped this

330ml bottle poured into a 500ml Leffe glass to retain a big head.
Pours a bright yellowy gold colour with a nice bubbly white head, 3 fingers thick.
Aroma is malty, slightly biscuity, fruity and a little hoppy.
Taste is very smooth malts, fruity esters, a little biscuity feel, a small hop character and a nice smooth finish. A little watery, but not overly so.
It could use more body and a better bitter finish, but the smooth mouthfeel and brilliant drinkability easily make up for this.
A nice example of how versatile and brilliant the lager brand can be, if brewed well.
