L Pours like a glass of cola. Deep chestnut, thin off-white head clearing unusually slowly.
S Smokey and sweetish
T Oh heavens! Thin, bitter, so bitter I winced hard as I swallowed.
F If asked the Alc% on this in a blind tasting I'd have guessed a maximum of 3.5% as the body comes over as that 'thin' to me. The fact it is 5.5% is astounding; it appears that the dominating bitter notes thoroughly mask it.
O A confusing array of aims in the recipe have perhaps produced a confusing result. I don't think I've drunk anything like it before and shall not be buying more of this beer. I don't get much if any salt nor sweet flavour from this, but what I do get to the max is apparent thin-ness and bitterness.

From a 330ml bottle.
L: Dark amber colour. Easy to see through. Several streams of bubbles rising to a thin, tan head.
S: Cocoa with soft toffee. Not bad.
T: Tastes like artificially sweetened, flavoured water. Really, really insipid. A look at the ingredients reveals not chocolate malt and/or real caramel (sugar, water, cream) but caramel flavouring. Ghastly!
F: Thin and watery.
O: A hopeless, limp example of a porter from a brewery that has really lost its way. Whose fault is this? M&S or Asahi? Meantime was acquired by SABMiller in 2015 and sold on again to Asahi in 2016. This is as close to being a craft beer as a Grolsch (who contract brewed Meantime's 'London Lager' for a period of time).

Dark amber colour. Light beige and frothy head.
Sweet and tangy aroma.
The taste reflects the label with a hint of chocolate.
Lacks complexity. Rather thin but very drinkable.

Cola looking body chocolate milkshake froth head
