Pours a bit like a dull red ale with medium head that disappears without much lacing. Nose is interesting. Some fruity malts, and just a bit of the whisky Barrel coming through. Taste is malt forward with some dark fruit. A bit thin from the barrel aging, although only limited wood or whisky influence makes it to the palate. Carbonation is about right and is smoother than expected with this non-bottle conditioned ale. Overall, a good beer, but probably not worthy (at 6%) to go through serious whisky barrel aging. Of course, there isn't much barrel influence anyway, which is an advantage in this case.
