Drank on tap at the Greenwhich Union pub.
A - Pours a golden colour with nice white head that retains well.
S - Soft yeasty aromas with some grains.
T - Soft apple flavours that are well complimented by grains, finishes a little dry.
M - Smooth and refreshing with medium carbonation.
D - Very easy drinking and true to the style.

Had this on tap at the Greenwich Union pub in Greenwich, London. I suspect the same beer is bottled and labelled as "Cologne Style Lager" for Sainsbury's "Taste the Difference" range. But why couldn't the brewery simply say on the label that this is a Kölsch? That might help educate the general public who likes to explore different kinds of beers without inventing another beer-myth about styles...
A: pours a pale golden hue, with an egg-shell white frothy cap with good head retention; very lightly carbonated.
S: soft breadiness quite predominant upfront, with a touch of sour dough and very softly lemony, grassy, even apple peel-ish hop aroma, apparently noble-hop variety, mixed together, with a lightly sulphurus touch in the end. Quite soft and pleasant.
T: chewy, bready and soft grainy (with a tinge of corns) flavour of malts at presence upfront, backed by root-vegetable kind of starch-like bitter-sweetness and very light saltiness with an apple-peel-ish hop flavour in the lingering aftertaste. The finish touch has a residual softly grainy flavour rather than being crisply clean.
M: very lively mouthfeel throughout, while the bready, creamy texture on the palate adds to the softness and makes the beer as smooth as refreshing.
D: incredibly easy-drinking beer, this one on tap is apparently fresher and more tasty than the Sainsbury's bottled version (if they are indeed the same beer).
