The Rupert Brewing mug hosted this very dark brown stout, allowing red-cola highlights when put to light. The chestnut head is big and frothy as it gradually fades, leaving no real lacing.
Chocolate and mildly roasted malt are the main attraction, with faint black coffee and a spoiler of faint soap at the end.
The flavors are balanced on entry, with sweetness overpowering the bitterness in short order. Milk chocolate and a light fruitiness give it character. The finish is long and sweet.
Alcohol is well below expectations, about half actually. Soft creamy carbonation is noted in passing, as the full body and smooth texture are more prominent.
This has nothing extraordinary happening, however it is a pleasant and enjoyable beer, in spite of the soapy aroma. I think it would pair well with fudge brownies.
