Appearance - Pours a dark chocolate brown with three fingers of frothy mocha tan head.
Smell - earthy and leafy hops, roasted malts, cocoa, chocolate, peanut butter, and earthy yeast.
Taste - earthy and leafy hops upfront. Then goes into the roasted malts. The cocoa and chocolate are there but not as pronounced as the aroma. The peanut butter is more of a dark roasted peanut butter and blends with the cocoa and chocolate. The earthy yeast rounds out the brew.
Mouthfeel - Medium bodied with moderate carbonation. Finishes smooth and roasty.
Overall - I'm a bit disappointed in this one as I had high expectations for this. For a brewery that is known for their white wedding pastry stout, this one falls flat for me. The aroma was very pleasant but took a bit of dive from there. This seems to be the case with these type of stouts.
