You can't miss the guava and vanilla in this beer, both in aroma and flavor. One sip in and you're transported to a tropical paradise (do you hear those waves crashing? Use your imagination guys.). The sweetness of the guava and vanilla are balanced by the assertive acidity. The addition of lactose creates a creaminess that adds to it's tropical perfection.

Tropical in taste with the soothing softness of vanilla and lactose, Pretentious Barrel House doesn't just bedazzle their sour ales, but bedizen them.
Pouring golden straw and with a milky haze, Bedizened pops with a fizzy froth before falling still. But despite its appearance, the nose is bountiful with lively acidity, tropical perfume and a faint cereal scent. Scant sweetness of sourdough, whole wheat and vanilla cream are soft and lay a softer foundation in anticipation of the sweetness to come.
As the flavors unfold on the middle palate its the tropical flavors that pull ahead with those overt guava additions, along with a sour fruitiness from the natural ale character that share aspects of gooseberry, lime, lemon, passionfruit and papaya. Bracingly tart with the taste of crabapple, cider and white wine, the beer trails into a brisk and slightly earthy taste of dry burlap.
Medium light in body, the beer is nearly bone dry as the fruit additions, vanilla and milk sugars offer a juicy taste and slight roundness that helps with balance. A briskly sour finish is followed by a short vinous aftertaste for a highly refreshing, crisp, clean and fruit session that quenches the thirst with ease. I still think that they could glue beads to the can though.
