In a world of simplicity, cleanliness and direct sourness, Pretentious is a star. Fruity and refreshing, their use of fruit is piled high on a sour base taste that's off-clean in the most wonderful way possible. Borrowing just enough lambic-like quality, their peach sour ale is a stand out.
Bright gold and glistening with a chrome-like sheen, the faintly foggy So Pitted builds a racy and spirited cap that dissolves rapidly to reveal a nearly teeth-churning scent of citrus, cider, wine, wood and a general dry cellar funk. With the fruitiness of peach drifting slightly above that of natural fruitiness its peppery perfume leans in with a scantly sweet upstart of sour candies, taffy and a kiss of sourdough.
As the highly acidic ale washes the middle palate, all thirst is removed and replaced with a refreshed palate of crabapple, lime, lemon, light grapefruit, white grape and gooseberry; all seemingly branch weathered and slightly leathery in their approach. Trending peppery with bleached oak and the nutty flavors to follow, a suggestion of cashew follows with a bracing sourness, tannic bite and a slight hay-like bitterness to add complexity and charm to a jaw-tightening tartness.
Light, crisp and refreshing throughout, the peach ale finishes with an aura of peach drifting about in a retro-olfactory action and a dry finish. A quick echo of dry burlap, peach perfume and sourdough reaffirm the beer's balance and intricacies. I pitted the fool who snubs this sour peach ale.

Had on tap. This was a surprise hit for our group at FOBAB. Opaque bright golden pour with a finger of white foam. IF you are looking for sour peach, with oak, slight brett, lacto, and underlying juicy citrus, look no further. The smell doesn't get the citrus in the midst of the peach tsunami, but the taste sure does. Feel is bright, sour, refreshing, and simple yet effective. A very pure peach sour
