In early 2021, John Haggerty of Warped Wing and our own Josh Martinez went on a Journey to Indiana. It was there they would meet Caleb Michalke of Sugar Creek Malt Co. Together they talked beer and discussed all the unique things happening at Sugar Creek. This trip inspired the beer in your hand - a smoked sour aged in chardonnay barrels and refermented in this can. The beer inside contains a unique bouquet of white wine, smoke, and brett. We are so happy with how this beer turned out that we thought about keeping it all to ourselves.

From the 12 oz can in a snifter via Bluejacket74! Cheers Dude!
This solid little sour pours a chill hazed straw color with a nice head of
white foam that settles to a thick ring and layer with light lacing. Nose of
oak, smoke, vinous grape notes, and light honey notes amongst the subtle brett.
Flavors open up nicely with light oak, mellow smoke, white wine, subtle brett, and
light honey malts dashed with light vinegar acidity. Mouth feel is medium light,
medium light carbonation, smooth, refreshing after a hot day, and finishing
lightly tart and nicely balanced with subtle smoke.
Overall, while I am not a huge sour fan this one not only aged well but is pretty nice!
Cheers

12 ounce can, no dating I could find on it. Purchased last week at Warped Wing in Dayton. Served in a Pretentious Barrel House chalice, the beer pours a somewhat clear gold color with about an inch and a half off-white head that stuck around a while. Decent amount of lacing. I like the aroma, the smoke hits first and there's also some white wine/grapes and oak noticeable. Taste is similar to the aroma, but there's also some lemony citrus flavors noticeable too. Smoke lingers in the finish without being overpowering. Mouthfeel/body is medium, it's coating and has a good amount of carbonation. I thought this was a good overall smoked sour, wish I would have bought more than one 4 pack of it!
